LORD! I wandered so long in
the desert
a wilderness, barren and dry.
I'd felt all alone and abandoned
with no one to see tears I cried.
I'd been feeling depressed and discouraged
with a heart that was broken and sad
always dreading the thoughts of tomorrow
and regretting the past that I'd had
'til I seemed to hear somebody speaking
in a voice that was tender and sweet
and I softly responded "Who are you?"
as I started to stand to my feet!
"I'M THE ONE...WHO CREATED THIS DESERT
AND THE ONE
WHO BROUGHT YOU HERE TO GROW"
"Tell me WHY!!!" I cried out in great anger
"I DON'T LIKE it here....I want to know
why you think I would grow in the desert,
where there's nothing surviving but snakes,
little rodents, and poisonous scorpions!
He responded...."Child, that's what it takes!
When you're stranded out here in the desert
you can listen and focus on ME.
and you won't be distracted by pleasures

what is best to rely on and trust in
what I'm longingly trying to show...
I HAVE WISDOM AND PEACE TO BESTOW!"
I FELL DOWN AT HIS FEET AND
REPENTED
FOR RESENTMENT I'D FELT DEEP INSIDE
then He reached down and lifted me gently
and I stood by HIS SIDE.....as HIS BRIDE
We marched out of the desert TOGETHER
Hand in hand, as He'd planned all along
for when He cleansed from sins and renewed me
I was no longer weak.....I felt STRONG!
All my loneliness, fear, disillusion, and
confusion faded from view
FOR AT LAST I BELONGED TO THE SAVIOR
MY WHOLE LIFE WAS CHANGED AND MADE NEW!
Simply TRUST....and move
into your desert
seeking all that Your Lord has to show
Cleansing power shall shower you daily
'til your pure heart is ready to go
with the BRIDEGROOM who wants you to know
in the desert, is where souls can GROW!
